Day 115 of 210

Today's session was a brick session. I was meant to be swimming in the morning as well but I just couldn't get out of bed.

The ride felt really good to start with, I was all refreshed, the speed was good and it looked like there was going to be a good sunset... Then the puncture arrived.

For some reason I seem to get these a lot although this is my second on this new bike which,  when I think about it, maybe isn't that bad. The change took just over 10 minutes to complete and then I continued on. Because of the puncture, I made the ride time longer as the plan did say for a 45 minute ride and I think I completed this. As for the average moving speed, this turned out to be about 16mpg but I'm hoping this doesn't happen on race day.

An awesome run off the bike made up for it all though. Yes, the back of my knees felt tight but the HR stayed down and the pace kept increasing. Overall, I covered 2 miles and managed a pace of under 9min/mile. Awesome. I'm happy.

Day 44

Today was the first run in quite a while and it actually felt quite good to be back. Only being for 30 minutes, it wasn't that testing but it was after a 30 minute bike.

Day 24 - Full House

Have just about covered everything during this Wednesday. Started of with a 2k swim first thing in the morning which was followed up this evening with a tidy little brick session. The bike was obviously on the turbo again but it all felt surprisingly good.

Bring on tomorrow.

Day 17 - lessons learnt

Today was an early start with a great swim session. The pool wasn't too busy, in the hour and a quarter I almost made it through the entire swim set (I completed 2.2km) and I managed to get some good footage on the GoPro.

After work it was straight to cooking and then onto the turbo for the beginning of another brick session. This was not so good though, training so soon after dinner just did jot agree with me and to make matters worse, the HR monitor wasn't working for some reason.

I struggled through the 30 minute bike session, averaging just over 12mph, but whilst on the 1.8 mile run I blew chunks.

I think this session was more about mental training in order to keep going rather than anything else.

Day 10 - Brick Session

Just a straight forward brick session today, 30 minute bike followed by a 15 minute run. Both sections were pretty straightforward although when I eventually put the bike away I discovered a lovely puncture in the front wheel. Looks like I'll ve fixing that in the morning before going out again.

Day 2 of 210 - brick

Today's training included the first brick session of many. Just a 30 minute bike, quickly followed by a 15 minute run.

The bike felt pretty good to start with, I hadn't actually been out on it in 3 months since the Ely Monster Middle, but as I kept trying to keep the cadence around the 100 mark with my speed around 15mph and my heartrate as low as possible, I soon felt the lack of miles... I soon begun to realise that I should have kept up with some cycling these past 12 weeks... I soon begun to panic just a little and I soon started to think about the future. I'm aiming towards a speed of 16mph over the 113 mile bike route and I know I'm definitely not there yet. That being said, I know I will be... well, as long as I keep up with the training.

Rosy has a sleepover tonight but I still managed to get a cheeky gym session in whilst they were swimming. Now I just need to sort out when I'll be swimming. I've got to get that started.
